{"id":46,"date":"2008-01-27T04:00:07","date_gmt":"2008-01-27T11:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.ernstrom.net\/?p=46"},"modified":"2008-01-27T04:00:07","modified_gmt":"2008-01-27T11:00:07","slug":"play-doh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.ernstrom.net\/?p=46","title":{"rendered":"Play-Doh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Play-doh has been a pretty popular thing at our house lately.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"middle\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.ernstrom.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01.25_playdoh2.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Bridget had her first experience with play-doh when she was about 18 months old. We were headed on a plane trip across the country to Connecticut. I took some along to keep her entertained. She liked it then, but it was when she got her play-doh set for Christmas that the fun really began.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"middle\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.ernstrom.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01.25_playdoh1.png\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Play-Doh<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1\/2 c. salt<br \/>\n1 c. flour<br \/>\n1 T. cream of tarter<br \/>\n1 T. oil<br \/>\n1 c. water<br \/>\nfood coloring<\/p>\n<p>Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat when dough no longer sticks to the sides of the pan. It should form a rough ball.<\/p>\n<p>Remove from pan and knead for several minutes on the counter. The dough will be hot, but kneading is necessary for the dough to be soft.<\/p>\n<p>Store dough in a ziploc bag in the refrigerator between uses.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I like this play-doh much better than the stuff from the store. Its softer and doesn&#8217;t crumble or dry out as fast. It does tend to leave a salty residue on your hands though. So, wash your hands after you play. Oh, and all the ingredients are regular kitchen\/food sorts of items. Meaning that if your kid digests some of it, they aren&#8217;t going to die. I don&#8217;t recommend eating it though, and I dare bet that most kids will only try it once &#8211; the taste is actually pretty gross.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Play-doh has been a pretty popular thing at our house lately.
