{"id":72,"date":"2008-02-24T04:00:55","date_gmt":"2008-02-24T11:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.ernstrom.net\/?p=72"},"modified":"2008-02-24T04:00:55","modified_gmt":"2008-02-24T11:00:55","slug":"cheap-cables","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.ernstrom.net\/?p=72","title":{"rendered":"Cheap Cables"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post is more about a discovery than anything else.<\/p>\n<p>First, some background: We installed our home theater over the past couple of weeks.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll put together a separate post about the components we installed our observations and considerations, but that can come later.\u00a0 Part of the project led us to needing to purchase some audio\/video cables to throw a signal from the Apple TV\/DVD player up to the ceiling mounted projector.\u00a0 Cables that are high quality and cover a good distance are also <em>really<\/em> expensive.\u00a0 I was referred to a website called MonoPrice that seems to have it all, at unbeatable prices.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" title=\"HDMI Cable, Home Theater Accessories, HDMI Products, Cables, Adapters, Video\/Audio Switch, Networking, USB, Firewire, Printer Toner, and more!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.monoprice.com\">http:\/\/www.monoprice.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>MonoPrice is an organization based out of Rancho Cucamonga, CA.\u00a0 Their online storefront marks their prices at significantly cheaper than any other retailer that I have seen.\u00a0 Take for instance a standard USB cable.\u00a0 Staples sells a 6&#8242; USB 2.0 A\/B Cable for $20.98.\u00a0 MonoPrice?\u00a0 $1.20.\u00a0 Wow.<\/p>\n<p>This meant that the 12&#8242; 5-RCA Component Video\/Audio Coaxial Cable (RG-59\/U) cable only cost me $7.47 at MonoPrice instead of the $35.99 Best Buy version (and that one didn&#8217;t even have the composite audio, it was purely composite &#8211; 3 channels instead of 5).<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t make any commissions for advertising for MonoPrice, so I&#8217;ll stop campaigning.\u00a0 I will say, though, that you ought to give them some business.\u00a0 They are a good company.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This post is more about a discovery than anything else.
