Tummy [Sleep] Time

March 4th, 2009 · 5 Comments · spencer

Spencer still struggles with holding his head up a little. He’s getting better, but really can’t do it for very long.

He’s just a little big wobbly still.

The recommendation is tummy time, right… to get them to practice raising their heads. We try that here. He has tummy time daily. The problem is that 80-90% of the time he just falls asleep within a couple of minutes.

I guess he’s just really comfortable on his tummy. Too bad they don’t recommend that for nap time. “Back-to-sleep” they say… Well, Spencer sneaks in little tummy naps during tummy time anyway. The little punk.

I do think its cute/funny, but its not doing much for his head control practice.

Often, I end up going in and covering him up and letting him sleep it out. Typically he’s down for about half an hour before Bridget decides he wants to wake up… such a helpful child she is. And by then he’s usually kind of mad, and tummy time is over.

One day he’ll figure it out.

hehehe… that used to happen a lot with carlos too (though i think he spent a little more time awake on his tummy before drifting off to sleep). and he would freak out every time i tried to put him down on his back to sleep… so i gave in and let him sleep on his tummy.

He is SO CUTE!!! Hey I totally forgot Thursdays Daimen goes to the Sports Academy Preschool. He’s gone from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. It probably isn’t going to work for us tomorrow. Are you guys going to be here next week? We will be here Mon thru Wed if one of those days works for you. Just let me know sorry… I am such a flake lately!

Wow – I wish Simon would have gone to sleep that easily! It would have made the first few months so much easier 🙂 My kids always started out sleeping on their backs and then reached a point where they wouldn’t – period! So, I had to give in and let them sleep on their tummies.
