Jesus blesses the children

Last night we were reading from Bridget’s Book of Mormon reader. We got to a chapter titled “Jesus blesses the children.” I asked Bridget if she’d like to read about how Jesus blesses us. She glanced down at the page, and immediately exclaimed, “How come Jesus shows up there? He doesn’t ever show up here to bless us.”

I chuckled a little bit and tried to explain. I told her that Jesus used to walk on the earth, and that he lived here before he lived in heaven. And that he’d come to earth again, but that it would probably be a long time. Her only response, “Why?”

I tried to explain that Jesus has ‘helpers’ here on earth to bless us with the priesthood when he can’t be here himself. Again she asked, “Why?”

Man, I love the “WHY” stage.

At any rate, I tried to simplify things the best I could so she would understand. Who knows if she actually does.

I thought that her initial comment was cute and innocent though. Well, sweetheart, I’d love it if Jesus showed up here to bless us too!

There have been many times my kids have asked questions that are difficult to answer. Why can’t they ask the easy ones. Just today Andrew asked us what “early” is. You forget they don’t understand things like that. So how did we explain it? “Well sweetheart it’s not late” 🙂 Anyway I also wanted to mention that up until now nothing on your side ads bothered me but as I looked over and saw a belly with stretchmarks I got sickened HA HA

Brooklyn is just starting the “why” stage…fun fun! Although I do know that even when you think they aren’t listening or don’t understand, they will surprise you one day and repeat something you told them, to you or someone else…(=
I never see your side ads-I use Firefox, is that why?

Too cute! My kids ask me all the time “When is Jesus coming? I want Him to come RIGHT NOW!!!” I need to catch a bit of that enthusiasm and prepare better! How funny that you knew Tressa and Jake! Yeah, Tressa is my sister. Fun to read up on your blog!
