I recently purchased a half bushel of peaches from Macey’s. I still had quite a few, so earlier this week I decided to make a peach pie.
It turned out great, so I thought I’d share the recipe. Both recipes came from searches on cooks.com.
Never Fail Pie Crust
1 c. shortening
2 c. flour
1 t. salt
1 T. vinegar
1/3 c. milk
Cut shortening into flour and salt. Add vinegar to milk. Combine at once with flour mixture.
Makes pastry for 2 crust pie.
Fresh Peach Pie
1 egg
2 T. flour
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. melted butter
4-6 fresh peaches peeled and quartered
Pie shell
Combine egg, flour, sugar, and butter. Fill pie shell with fresh peaches, cut sides up.
Pour mixture over peaches.
Bake pie in 400 degree oven for 15 minutes.
Reduce heat to 300 degrees and cook for an additional 50 minutes.
Allow pie to cool at bit before serving.
There you have it! Easy as pie! 🙂 (Yummy as pie too!)

So, do you wake up at 4:00 a.m. because it is 8:23 and I am in between classes and decided to check if anyone updated their blogs and your said you did four hours ago! The pie looks delicious. I will have to try it out because Joe’s parents have peach trees in their back yard and they gave us a WHOLE bunch. Also, regarding a previous post… I just learned about 5 S in my operations management class. Very interesting and helpful. I would love it done to my house as well. I should start with one room like you guys and work my family into it slowly!

Ellen – No, I’m not up at 4:00 in the morning. My blog editor lets me post in advance. I can set the date and time for any post and when that time hits the entry will be posted. Its kind of handy actually. I’m sometimes write several posts at a time and set them all to post in the future. Cheating? Maybe. But it works for me. 🙂
I think blogger recently added something like that too, if you’re interested in cheating too. lol.
